“Beauty is what we are and that valuing beauty is inevitable, not deplorable”
We’ll be holding our first retreat at Kangolo Farm in the foothills of Mount Kenya, a fragile earth space. The Kangolo Lugga is a fascinating water course rising on the edges of the Lolamarick Conservation area and collecting runoff from the steep hills of Chumvi and the undulations of Ethi, in Laikipia.
Just before it tumbles into Borana Conservancy are some three hundred, enthusiastically protected, regenerative forested acres of the lugga valley - our home as we gather together.
At the dusty pink Kangolo homestead are charming tree houses on stilts, a sweet quirky cottage and the main house…utterly eco friendly and home-built with nature’s needs and desires at the heart of design.
As we gather together in temporary solitude, there is time and space for you to participate in extraordinary opportunities to truly engage in the beautiful natural world that surrounds us, and that we ultimately are part of. Try rising at 5am to the dazzling bird chorus.
Tread softly…enjoy being.
“Elephant, lion, hyena, birds....
vast, vast skies....
a quietude
walking
Ngai upon the mountain
a far desert north...beckoning
and peoples of our ancient ways
this gentle peace....
velvet moons
crisp cold, or stunning suns
Another Africa
come write your life in air
so very welcome
Laikipia
the way we are”
